Christian Buchmann was born in 1967 in Styria, is married and father of two children.

At the age of 4 he received his first violin lessons from his father, Prof. Rudolf Buchmann. Subsequently, he was a student at the Music School of the City of Vienna and from the age of 16 a student at the Vienna University of Music (class Günter Pichler). Engagements as a violinist with orchestras have not only taken him to the Salzburg Festival, where he was on stage under the direction of Claudio Abbado. He has also been active as a violinist with Viennese orchestras on several tours in Japan and China.

Since 1985 he has been working in the agency Künstlersekretariat Buchmann GmbH, and since 2016 he has been the sole managing director. Founded as a family business by his father, the company is active for the worldwide export of the most important Austrian artists and ensembles, with special relations to East and South-East Asia as well as Australia as well as the whole of Europe and South America. particularly important.

Since 1995, he has been managing director of the renowned Vienna Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1946, which performs up to 100 concerts every year. The orchestra's sphere of activity extends from Austria to the whole world, from chamber music programs to almost symphonic music, yet, it is one of the main representatives of the Viennese Classical music period.

The Summerfestival Kittsee which was founded by the Family Buchmann, has become an important part of his professional season. As the intendant, he has been responsible for the development and development of the young opera and operetta festival since 2017. This festival has already become an indispensable part of Burgenland’s cultural life. On the occasion of the premiere in 2017, exactly on his 50th birthday, he was awarded the decoration of the state of Burgenland by the former governor Hans Niessl.

Due to his international activities, he and his father are involved in promoting and strengthening Austria's business relations with Asia, in particular with Japan, China, Korea and Taiwan, at various levels.

In addition to his core tasks, Christian Buchmann has been developing the pioneering online platform YOOL for the management of human resources since 2010, which makes it possible to integrate orchestras and companies with freelancers in a standardized and centralized way to handle. This software is now being used by more and more orchestras and companies. Among others, the Vienna University of Music and a large security company, which is also responsible for the protection of the Austrian Federal Government (Federal Chancellery). In doing so, he has made a pioneering and significant contribution to shaping the future of the back office sector.
